The Drunken Moogle is a blog devoted to what might be the two best things this side of Hyrule: geek culture and booze. Though the generation of geeks who grew up with Mario, Sonic, and Final Fantasy gains new interests, some hobbies never change. The staff at TDM are dedicated to bringing the evolving nerd the perfect pairing between geek and drinking culture.
Here you will find the largest collection of nerdy cocktails (with themes of video games, anime, movies and more), unique glassware, art, and drinking games that include a geeky flare. You will also find an evergrowing list of geeky themed bars around the world.
This website has proven its awesomeness over the years by releasing 252 different kinds of drinks based from characters & video games, and has had a record of over 25,000 followers. So when they turn 3 years old you can expect some crazy awesome party to throw down.
“The Drunken Moogle is turning three years old soon! It is incredible the amount of love and support that everyone has shown these past few years. You all are reason we do this and our motivation to continue to make the site better. So what does this have to do with Mogtoberfest?
Mogtoberfest will be a week to show our appreciation and to celebrate three wonderful years. It will be an online festival of sorts during the dates of Oct. 7-14. During this time period, TDM will have a lot going on. Here are some of the things you can look forward to:
- 1 quality drink post a day from TDM and some of our favorite mixologists
- Additional posts each day (not just 1 post a day like normal!)
- Giveaways and prizes EVERY DAY!
- Glassware sales from some of TDM’s favorite glassware artists
- Updates to the site
- Online gaming nights
- A TDM meet-up at a local gaming bar near Atlanta, GA (Oct. 13th) for a night of nerdy comradery and fun.
Keep an eye on the site as October 7th approaches for additional details regarding prizes, sales, game nights, and information on the meet-up. We’ll also be talking a lot about Mogtoberfest on our twitter, @DrunkenMoogle.” quote from Mitch.

The Sims 2 – Love Potion #8.5
I’ve posted this weeks Gourmet Gaming a day early so you can enjoy it on Valentine’s day!
Is Valentine’s Day usually a total failure for you? Are you left bitter and alone, ranting about the commercialism and inherent flaws of the day to faceless people on the internet when all you really want is a hug? I know how you feel (I really don’t). If you’re looking to captivate a boy or girl this evening or you simply need someone to play co-op with because sometimes achievements demand you play a game with another person, then this is for you. Allow me to be your Gypsy Matchmaker. One sip of Love Potion #8.5 will ensure love at first sight and will only set you back a meagre §350! Can you really afford to put a price on true love? Fruity, fizzy and optionally intoxicating there’s no better drink to enjoy with the Sim you love this Valentine’s.
What you will need: A tall glass.
10ml / 0.33oz. Chambord Raspberry Liqueur (Or Raspberry Juice)
50ml / 1.5oz. Raspberry Lemonade
100ml / 3.3oz Champagne (Or Tonic Water)
Top Up with Lychee Juice
Fresh Lemon Juice
Making Love Potion #8.5:
- Crush the raspberries and press them into the bottom of the glass then pour the crushed ice on top.
- Pour in the Chambord, followed by the raspberry lemonade, champagne then top it off with lychee juice. If you do it right you can create an impressive ‘layered’ look to the drink.
- Garnish with a sprig of mint and a twist of lemon juice.
I’m not sure I could have picked a cornier thing to make! While I think Valentine’s Day can be a bit shallow I do enjoy the excuse to be overly romantic and indulge a little more than usual in treating my significant other. In saying this, every relationship faces hard times. Ours was definitely when we played Borderlands together and he earned the name “Loot Hoover”. It nearly ended in divorce.
